Meet the Author

Hi, I'm Meiyen. I write fiction because there are no limits to what I can imagine—and storytelling gives me the chance to bring those ideas to life. I love starting with nothing more than an idea and watching it become characters, relationships, places, conflicts, and eventually an entire world that didn't exist before I sat down to write it.

I'm Meiyen Kennedy, an author drawn to the complicated territory between the choices we make and the people we become.

I earned my B.A. in Communications from Oglethorpe University, with minors in Psychology and Philosophy—three subjects that, in hindsight, probably explain a lot about the kinds of stories I can't stop writing.

I'm fascinated by human behavior. Why we make the choices we make. What we're willing to believe. What we hide from other people—and sometimes from ourselves. What happens when conviction collides with fear, when faith is tested by circumstance, and when an ordinary decision becomes something much larger than we ever intended.

My fiction often begins with an impossible premise, but the questions underneath it are deeply human. I write about consequence, identity, faith, sacrifice, redemption, grace, and the uncomfortable space between who we are and who we hope to become.

I'm the author of The Undistancing, with additional works including The Ledger and The Testimony of Raymond Wilson. And there are always more stories taking shape somewhere in the background.

When I'm not writing, I'm a wife, a mother of four, and a lifelong storyteller living in Georgia.
